  1. Go to trezor.io/start.
  2. Download and run Trezor Suite (desktop/web) or install Trezor Bridge if prompted.

Full step‑by‑step HTML guide

1. Purchase & unbox

Purchase from the official site or an authorized reseller. When you unbox, verify packaging is sealed and the device has no visible signs of tampering.

2. Visit the official start page & download

Open trezor.io/start. Choose the Trezor Suite (recommended) for your OS and download it. If prompted for Trezor Bridge, install it — it lets the browser securely communicate with the device.

Always verify the URL in your browser address bar. Beware of look‑alike phishing pages.

3. Connect device & install firmware

Connect the device via USB. The Suite will detect the device and (if needed) prompt you to install official firmware. Approve installations on the device itself — do not accept firmware from unknown sources.

4. Create wallet & set PIN

Choose Create new unless you plan to restore an existing wallet from a recovery seed. Set a PIN on the device — the PIN protects the device if it is physically lost or stolen.

5. Backup your recovery seed (seed phrase)

The device will display a recovery seed of 12/18/24 words. Write the words down on paper (or another offline medium). Store the written backup in a safe, secure place (e.g., safe deposit box, fireproof safe).

Do not photograph, screenshot, or store the seed phrase in cloud storage or on an internet-connected device.

6. Optional — passphrase & hidden wallets (advanced)

Advanced users may enable a passphrase. This functions as a 25th word and creates hidden wallets. Only enable this if you understand the risks: if you forget the passphrase, funds protected by it are unrecoverable.

7. Use Trezor Suite to manage assets

After setup, use the Suite to send/receive coins, connect to apps (DeFi, exchanges, etc.), and review on‑device confirmations for each transaction. Your private keys remain on the device.

8. Security best practices

  • Keep firmware and Suite updated.
  • Never disclose your seed, PIN, or passphrase to anyone.
  • If you suspect compromise, generate a new seed on a new device and transfer funds.
  • Consider storing a secondary copy of your seed at a separate secure location.
